Join us at The Big ICF-GA November VIRTUAL Meeting: Compassion: the Key to Resilience featuring Barbara Davis, NBC-HWC

Event Description:

What is the difference between empathy and compassion? Are we born with either or both? ICF Core Competencies encourage coaches to “show support, empathy and concern,” to be “empathetic and responsive,” and “embody a coaching mindset.” What is the “felt sense” of empathy and compassion? How do we deal with compassion fatigue in a dysregulated world? What can we do to train ourselves and support our clients in developing somatic awareness and empower them to trust knowledge not derived through cognitive reasoning?

We’ll explore these questions and more through the lens of Cognitively Based Compassion Training. Barbara will share ideas, perspectives, and scientific research, along with experiential exercises, and invite us into rich dialog. Please come prepared to engage fully on camera, bring your wisdom, growth mindset and sense of playful exploration.

CBCT is the longest running and most studied compassion protocol of its kind and forms the cornerstone of a global initiative, The Compassion Shift. It is widely practiced in medical schools, hospitals, chaplaincy training, among teachers, nurses, veterans with PTSD, people with AIDS and incarcerated populations. CBCT is now an accredited class for undergraduates at Emory University.

Continuing Coach Education Units (CCEU): 1.5 TBD

Featured Speaker:

Barbara Davis has been a student of human behavior change and body-oriented disciplines for more than 3 decades. Though a profound connection with nature, spirit, and movement, she has explored her own somatic awareness. As a former dancer, holding certifications in Yoga, and various body-work modalities, she combines the science of anatomy, neurobiology, and the neuroscience of change to help her clients embrace and integrate their whole lives. She finds meditation and compassion training an integral part of sustainable change.
